About Us

Published by admin

The Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis is a community of active Sisters engaged in the healthcare apostolate. We own and operate 7 hospitals and 1 nursing home in Illinois and Michigan.  We were founded in 1877 in Peoria, Illinois by Mother M. Frances Krasse and Bishop John Lancaster Spalding.  For more information about our community please visit our website: http://www.franciscansisterspeoria.org

My name is Sister Veronica and I am a Novice. A Novice is the second step in the process of becoming a Roman Catholic Sister.  I am now a Sister, and a member of the community. For more detailed information about the Novitiate, here is the description of one in our active Franciscan community. (http://www.franciscansisterspeoria.org/novitiate.htm)

First, I should start by saying a little about myself. I am a CT and MRI Technologist by trade and have been working in the field for 5 years.  I am a convert of 9 years. While at college I started asking those existential questions, and through that intellectual search, God led me home to the Catholic Church. Since my conversion, I realized the desire of my heart is to offer my life to Him in its totality. After visiting this Franciscan community, I have come to know that this is where He has been leading me for so long. I am now at home.
