Sr. Veronica working on scrapbook
For the last month or so I’ve been working on getting a scrapbook together for the House of Formation. Sr. Mary John and Sr. Agnes Joseph have entrusted this task to me. Kind of surprising because I’ve never done a scrapbook! You learn lots of new skills when you enter the convent… Since entering I’ve been given the opportunity to speak at high schools about vocations, scrapbook, help Sr. Agnes Joseph to re-organize the library(a work in progress), etc. There is never a dull moment in the convent!

You know, there are such a wide variety of things to offer the Lord this Lent: increased prayer, fasting(in the traditional sense, or from a specific item), charitable works, etc. The thing I have to remember (we all have to remember really), is that if we do these things relying on our own strength or power we are totally missing the point, and offending God in the process. I don’t know about you, but I am so happy to be immersed in this Holy Season of Lent once more. This will be my second Lent in the convent. The Liturgy for this penitential season is so rich with readings exhorting us to do penance, but always with the right intention; God-seeking, not self-seeking. This is very important for me, as when my eyes are not fixed on Him I always fall flat on my face.
My prayer for you all this Lent is to grow closer to Christ and His Church by embracing all that this rich, penetential season has to offer. May God richly bless each of you and fill you with a holy longing for the risen Christ at Easter.

On Sunday the 15th we attended the Diocesan White Mass(for healthcare workers) at the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception. As usual Bishop Jenky’s homily was inspiring and instructive.Â
It also was a special day for me personally because on that day one year ago I entered as a Postulant. Praise God!

More to post in coming days about the various projects that I’ve helped with, for now, enjoy the pictures.

- Our Lady of Lourdes
Â
Today is the optional memorial of Our Lady of Lourdes. Click here to learn more about St. Bernadette and Our Lady of Lourdes. Â
Collect from Morning Prayer:
God of mercy,
we celebrate the feast of Mary, the sinless mother of God.
May her prayers help us to rise above our human weakness.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son,
who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for us!

Sr. Veronica lights candles in preparation for Mass
So, for the last two weeks or so I have been learning how to be the Sacristan for our hospital chapel and the convent chapel. There was a lot to learn, and I’m still learning! As both of our Sister Sacristans will be on retreat starting this coming Wednesday, it was time for me to learn. What a blessing and honor to be entrusted with this sacred work. God is good!
