Writers Block

Published by Sister Veronica under convent life

So, I thought I’d ask you all what you’d like me to write about(or maybe someone can suggest something for us to discuss) as I’m having a bad case of writers block lately. In the meantime, here are a few pictures taken at our Motherhouse a couple of weeks ago.

Enjoy!

Rain, Rain Go Away…

Published by Sister Veronica under convent life, event

Well, today is the first day that it hasn’t rained in the last week I think. Central Illinois has been getting a lot of the rain from the recent hurricanes. I guess compared to the damage caused by Gustav, Hannah, and Ike I have nothing to complain about. But, I thought I’d share with you the events of Friday evning. I was almost sound asleep(around 10:15pm) when I heard the sound of running water-in my room.(there was a severe thunderstorm going on outside, mind you) I look over at the wall to discover that water is pouring down my wall and onto the floor(carpeted). So, luckily it hadn’t gotten onto my night table containing books, a lamp, and by alarm clock.(among other things) All I could do was rearrange my furniture and put towels down. I was very lucky that it wasn’t worse. All this and I had to get up early to get ready for a spiritual workshop at the Motherhouse on Saturday.

Convent life is never dull!

Hope everyone is having a great day!

May God bless and Mary keep,

Sister Veronica

Remembering 9/11…

Published by Sister Veronica under event

All of our Sisters remember in prayer those affected by this senseless tragedy-for the repose of the souls of all who lost their lives, and for all who lost loved ones on this day 7 years ago.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. Amen.

May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace. Amen.

Fall is in the air…

Published by Sister Veronica under convent life

Well, it certainly is. Yesterday and today I had to break out my sweater a few times. Yesterday morning I think it was in the mid 40’s and breezy when I walked over to the hospital Chapel for Meditation, Morning Prayer, and Mass. This morning I took the other way- we have an underground tunnel:-) (which comes in really handy when it is snowing or icy in the winter).  So, I think I’m the only one looking forward to the cooler weather of Fall/Winter.(I guess that’s to be expected, I am a Floridian) In any case, it is absolutely beautiful here in central Illinois. Although, I think I heard that it’s supposed to warm up later in the week:-(. At least the farmers are looking forward to some more warm weather.(as they had to replant due to the rainy weather) Well, I hope everyone is having a great day!

God bless and Mary keep,

Happy Labor Day!

Published by Sister Veronica under event

God Bless America

God Bless America

Greetings from the Sisters at the House of Formation! I hope that everyone is having a great Labor Day.

Today our schedule was a little different. Usually we attend the 6:30am Mass in the Chapel at St. Francis Medical Center, however due to the holiday there was only one Mass offered- the 12:00pm Mass. So we prayed Morning Prayer at 7am, followed by breakfast. (Sister Magdalen went all out and made us pancakes! They were delicious!) Since I don’t have class on Holy Days or National holidays, I used my time to study. Today was basically a “catch-up” day for all of us.(save for Sister Faustina who worked at St. Clare Home) All in all it’s been a quiet day.

Wishing all an enjoyable and safe Labor Day.

May God bless you and keep you.

Sister Veronica
