Sunset

Published by Sister Veronica under convent life

Tonight I happened to look ouside after we watched the news and the sunset was gorgeous. Needless to say since it was so beautiful I just had to get outside if only for a few minutes to enjoy it. The fresh air, the breeze, beautiful clouds- the beauty of nature can do nothing but lead me to God.

Garden and Kitchen Adventures

Published by Sister Veronica under convent life, funny

Mustard Greens

Mustard Greens

So, since the Mustard Greens are huge I decided that today was the day to harvest and cook the greens. The harvesting was the easy part. Novice is a good description of my culinary skills also.(Mom always made it look so easy!) I started my adventure in the kitchen by burning the bacon-luckily the fire alarm was not set off. I tried again with the bacon and the second time is the charm. (Sister Magdalen rescued me by finishing to clean the greens so that I could just chop them and add them to the pot) Thank you Sister Magdalen!

I’m amazed at how long it takes to cook-and also the effort required. I had unrealistic expectations I guess. Plus last time I cooked greens I forgot all the headache after I tasted them. Maybe next time I’ll remember. Who knows. Well, that was my adventure in the kitchen today. Now I’m off to make my Holy Hour.(just me, Jesus, and the Rule- I can’t wait!)

God Bless.

Quiet Time

Blessed Sacrament

Since entering the convent I have become more aware of the “noisyness” of our society. What I mean by that is that it is so easy to fill our time with noise of some sort. Music, TV, Internet, cell phones, etc. Not to say that any of the above is bad in the least, but that one can easily acquire the habit of neglecting the need for silence. For me at least, it is hard to think with so much noise. So, I have come to cherish my quiet time very much. What is so funny is that I didn’t think my life was “noisy” before. Interesting how perspectives change.

Well, I’m off to do some more studying. Have a great day!

May the Lord give you peace.

New Novice!

Before Reception

Yesterday was the big day.(Feast of the Transfiguration) I was recieved into the Novitiate at 2pm in our Motherhouse Chapel. Needless to say I was SO nervous…

You know, it occured to me last night that I’m now engaged. What more could a woman want in a man? In my opinion Jesus couln’t be a more perfect spouse. I know that it may sound like an interesting comparison to some, but nonetheless true. From my understanding that is the same way that St. Clare felt at her Clothing. So, there you go. My two cents.

Oh, I almost forgot, my name in religion is Sister M. Veronica, OSF.

P.S.- I’ll elaborate on the retreat preceeding my reception another time, although it was a wonderful, grace filled 7 days.

God bless and keep you, Sister Veronica
